Why do I bother! :(

Ok, so I buy my 84 Cabby in the summer, nice and solid and (relatively) low miles ….. look under the bonnet and shes all dirty, just been driven and never really pampered, just the way I like it. On inspection shes a small oil leak, top hose mounting is cracked on the radiator and the coolant looks like mud - but it WORKS!

So after handing my cash over I move into what is now my 7-8th Mk1/2 and I'm looking forward to sorting all these jobs, who wouldn't?? even though I've done these jobs numerous times…

New radiator, some nice Samco pipes, new expansion tank, oil, filter, rocker gasket, k&n panel filter all lined up and fitted in a day, love it. Pop her in the garage after the job and look forward to the next drive

Next drive comes (today) and shes rattling like a bag of thrown spanners, p*ssing oil off the sump, I'm getting a large hissing behind the dash which wasn't there before plus now my temp gauge sits at the 1/6 mark for about 8 mins then shoots off the scale with the temp light flashing in about 4-5 seconds.

Seems by spending serious cash to make this car even better I've only made every aspect that was poor even WORSE!  

Sure I love this car, I loved all the old VW Ive ever owned but today was the first time I've ever driven one back to the garage, slammed the door and shouted 'why do I bother!'

Why do we bother??

I know what you mean I have a new roof that leaks new paint thats rusty and a rebuilt engine that needs a head gasket  

But it's so worth it

You know why we bother! Cause we love it!  8O

why do we bother? because we care about our little pride and joy, because our little car has to be better than the ordinary pap that cloggs up our roads these days and of course, because we have too lol
