Which coilovers????

Hi guys,

I have recently purchased my first vw! Its a mk1 cabriolet gti. Ive made a few changes already and im now after fitting some coilovers(on a budget). I was looking at either the jom coilovers or the hottuning coilovers. Has anyone got a reccommendation on which ones to go for???

I've got the ebay special hottuning coilovers on my tintop and really cant complain! Ok so the rides abit bumpy when you've got it lowered about 100mm but I just accept that when wanting it so low! Improved the handling loads, the car just sticks to the road, doesn't roll round corners or anything anymore. hope tht helps :)

From looking around at several posts and what you have just said everyone seems to be pretty happy with the hottuning coilovers. Think ill be ordering myself a set of these:)

dude if you pay 180 for coilovers that's 45 a corner you get a nasty ride people who say they are good, OK ,that's because that's all they no
i would not waste your money on hottuning crap and save for something better ,you get what you pay for and guess what you get for 45 a corner ,,that's right crap

i no not all people can afford to spend a grand on a kit a have been using avo gtx kit cost 900 and worth every penny but in the past i have used super sport 319 pound for the kit not a bad kit or if you can go a bit more the spax RSX Coilover Kits 484 pound a very good inbetween kit its all about your budget  them hutting kits come from china and are very nasty but if that's all you can afford then use them they get the job done but for an extra 134 quid you can get the supersport witch are not only adjustable but the dampers are gas and unrated 30 percent makes sense to me good luck dude

get some new rubber mounts for rear and front strut mounts from VW…

use the £800 saving and go a nice holiday?

I would sya if these are your first set of coilies (assuming, given you asked for advice) then get them, and see what you think?  If they're all that bad, sell them and save/add for a better set.

the hot tuning coilies are a popular cheap pleaser, that are adjustable, and lower the car (as desired)….i could think of better ways to spend a grand, though I'm sure they're better build quality etc. etc.

You ever spend £50 on a bottle of wine?  Yeah, you could do that…..or for £46.01 less…..

Good luck either way, and happy birthday.
