Why are you planning to fit wider wheels on the rear of a FWD car?

straight in there with the voice of reason paul lol. and i'd say you'll have to do a fair bit of widening of the arches to squeeze them in. not sure on the ET and spring clearance etc

he is planning on fitting wider wheels to the front too paul. 9.5 is not standard. it would definately look strange with wider wheels on the front than on the rear. makes sense on a drag strip but that is about it.

dan. you will have trouble getting both 9.5s and 10.5s under the arches. being that wide with an et of 33 they will need massive spacers to stop them hitting your suspension i think. then your arches will need a bit of work too because when you fit spacers, the offset is altered.

i have 15x7s on my golf and they poke a little.
they have an et of 13 so it is the equivilant of 20mm spacers on your wheels. i had to have arch work done but i have lowered mine and wanted them to be legal.

good luck with trying to get them to look right.
they will look mean as if you manage it!

I doubt they will fit without alot of work! ive got 15" BBS RM wheels on my Golf and they are only 7J et35 and the clearance between them and the suspension is ectremely close! i also had to add 10mm wheel spacers to clear the front calipers

Cheers for the advise Golf1980 basically i really fancy these wheels (Item number: 220794752856)
on ebay but it sounds as though it will be a lot of hassle and perhaps i'd be better off looking around for a set more suited size wise.

Hi , just getting my  2ps worth in …. If you were to fit the wheels being that wide either at the front or the back in your case both . The wheels will poke out too much ,the ride will be affected  , your steering will be affected ( when you slow down on an uneven road the car will want to go off in its own direction ..not good ), lots of stress on the steering mounts , wheel bearings  (at the front coz of the weight of the engine ) and the back wheels being so wide the same plus the stub axle won't be too happy ….. I hope this helps you out m8 ….you could do 8"s at back and 7"s on front  you'll sort of get the look your after and get the  right tyers  with tuck and a little poke she 'll look good and be very happy  :D
