Whats she worth - Mk1 cab 1982

So… the time has come to sell the little beasty, my pride and joy weekend toy…

She is certainly not perfect, she has little paint crackles on the rear quarters and on the boot, a slightly blowing manifold and the drivers bolster but she drives like a dream and is great fun in the summer time!

She has an MOT until November and some tax left on her, and the best bit is she has a genuine 54000 miles! I have gone on the MOT trace website and as far as i can tell there are no issues at all with the miles, she was parked up for a lot of her life as far as i can tell. The previous owner was on here, and i was in touch with the owner before that.

She has a private plate, which is purportedly worth £500 but if i am honest i really don't see you getting more than a couple of hundred for it, either way it will come with the car.

But here's the problem, i really don't know how much to sell her for! Any suggestions welcomed as i genuinely haven't the first idea. I know what i paid for her but i don't know if it was a good price or not!

Here are the pictures taken today, any help on pricing greatly appreciated… also tips on where to sell her would be good.

It appears not, and also its hard to pin down a value on a convertible, especially an old one with a mix of faults, because the value varies with the season, the weather, presentation and geograpic location so much. For example I could say £1000 and you might never shift it at that advertised price. But someone might pay you £1200 for it - on a sunny day!

Its worth is what ever someone is willing to pay for it really best advise is look at other cabs prices then you have an idea however what do you value it at do you want rid quick or can you hold out you could advertise it at what you want someone near to you may think bargain there's loads of places to advertise too.

Me id look at £1200 or try for a bit more you can always come down in price not up

It dunt fit

Thanks a lot for the replies, I guess your right, value is in the eye of the beholder! Cheers...

I suppose folks will look at what needs doing and the costs involved.

For instance, the Hood is very tired and worn, the pad is shot too.

So your looking at £150.00 or the interliner and top pad kit and then depending on what hood to go on another £120.00-£250.00.

Interior wise it's not the origional and it needs some work, maybe cheaper to buy one second hand etc.

So really it's up to what you want to aceive and what someone wants to pay and ending up in the middle.

Look around as the guys say and compare values to similar condition ones on E Bay etc.

Prices vary so much and from the dregs of £4to500 uptp 5k

The mileage is low which is good however as chortle says it needs lots of work done and parts are not the original ones, so it is very hard to value, i've looked at a few of late and for 1k you get a car that runw well but is rough round the edges or the other way round, tidy car but runs like a bag of nails. and 2k gets you a tidy daily. I've just picked up a late clipper with new hood and leather and 108k miles for just under 2k with a couple of minor body issues

I don't mean to sound rude and sorry if it comes across that way but i wouldn't pay much more than about £800 to £1000 due to the work needed.

I asked for an opinion and you took the time to offer one, certainly won't take offence! I think one thing I've certainly learnt is that i probably have concentrated on the negative of the car (trying to be open and honest) and I have probably done the car a disservice.

I think you're right to mention the negatives - otherwise you'll only get people coming to look at it and barter you down anyway. If you've listed the negatives then you can turn around and say the price is fixed because you've taken all the faults into account.

The only way to really find out what it's worth is to put it up for sale for whatever you want and see whether it sells. To me, it looks like about a grand's worth. Just my opinion tho.

I know what you mean, i recently sold my Corrado and the bad list seemed way longer than the positives however it was a brill car and i just wanted to be as honest as possible for the buyer and not waste anyones time as i wouldn't want my own wasted for stuff that can be told over the phone, i mean i asked one seller lately does the roof leak? Ans - no, well not much just a couple of drops, i got there and it was totally sopping wet… waste of time :(

Honesty is always best and as mentioned then reflects your price as you see fit, not then knocking off for the things you've already listed.

Just emphasize the positives   :D  And from what i can see you have Low milage and a very solid body indeed - always worth a real dam good clean before the photos as well - photos can sell the car before even getting the viewing.

Thanks for your positivity, I think your post pretty much summed up my feelings at the moment, it's a lovely car, really is, but I just don't know how I can get that across properly and be honest… I really dont want to screw anyone over by not mentioning something. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get there, thanks for everyone's opinion so far!

Maybe fixing some of the issues may help it to sell?

Picking up another interior for it and keeping a lookout for a good used roof complete would make a difference?

YOu could probably pick both up for around 300 if you do a bit of bartering, hibbs on here is breaking my old cabby which had an almost mint interior on it…

Just Another thought for you to consider
