1982 Mk1 Golf C Formel E...? Conversion?
Hi guys,
Im a Vw fanatic and retro dub-breaker down in devon, I have a 1982 Mk1 Golf C Formel E - 5 door - tintop. 1 of only 60 left in the uk. Was originally yellow now been sprayed black. It currently has the original 1.1L engine in it. All welding has been undertaken, brand new suspension with coilovers on rear. Undersealed, Really clean shell.
Now im in 2 minds what to do with this beauty. would people be more interested as is original OR i have a 2.8l VR6 engine from a mk3 golf which i could use for a conversion.
Whats your thoughts fellow dubber's? and would you be interested in buying this classic as it is or converted?
Many Thanks.
Jamie

My opinion. Something thats getting rare should be kept original. But at the end of the day its down to that person. :-) and welcome to the forum.

i know what you mean but they dont seem to sell for alot, whereas most people are scared to do the VR conversion so thats also rare. thanks for the welcome

I have one of the 60 Formel E's and its currently undergoing a restoration - it's just come back from the body shop.
Personally, I'd keep it as it is but that's what I'm doing! I don't plan on ever selling my Formel E and really enjoy the car for what it is. So in 20 years time you might find mine is rarer than your VR6 conversion. It's a personal preference - I just wish folk would stop butchering the Formel E's and pick on a GTi instead

Hi there and welcome to the forum. As said above if it's that rare try and keep it as it is, it's only going to go up in value over the years. Having said that it's your car so do with it as you want mate.
