I think they only look cool-ish on cute cuddly cars. like the lupo, i once saw a blue one with them on at inters.

They were actually made by "Ronal" and they were aptly named "Teddybears"    I seen a set go on ebay recently for just under a grand! 8O
They're very rare apparently.
