What is that edge under the licence plate on a GDR/DDR?

I saw this car for sale and the car is from the DDR or the GDR if you like: It has a strange edge under the licence plate.. Anyone who knows why and what it is there?

EDIT: I just read that they only delivered 10.000 Golf mk1 to GDR/DDR, so does it mean that it's rare?

GDR = German Democratic Republic

DDR = Deutsche Demokratische Republik

Also called East Germany

I think you might need to explain in better detail. With out being rude and with all due respect, that 1st post made no sence to me at all!!!  :dontknow:

If you go and look in the projects section there is an Inari silver project on the first page with the same rear panel crease, as him!

You're not rude at all.. I'm norwegian so that will explain why it doesn't make sence ;)

If you see at the picture, there is one edge on the body between the licence plate and the bumper that I haven't seen before on any Mk1, and because the car is from DDR…

The Mk1 Golf Owners Club

Look on page 3 near the bottom…

If that link doesn't work it's called something like 'Inari silver s1 2.0 16v' it's on the first page at the moment… The author is called Raffles

I found it, but thanks ;) I'm not sure, but it looks like at the picture I found that the line is going further on to the side?..

Do you know why it called inari or what it means?

Oh, I thought it was the special rearend that made the name since when I searched "inari" that kind of cars came up, but they were all in the same color.

Well, maybe, yeah, I'll ask him ;)

Isn't that extra edge the reflection of the silver bumper?
