What Grade Oil Are You Using??

Need to give my mk1 a quick one over before ultimate dubz this weekend, was wondering what grade oil people are using and which one would you recon is the best  

I use Halfords Classic Car Oil, 20W50

i put in some cheapish halfords own oil… i think it was 10w40… or 15w50

one of the two, it runs okay, but could be better if on better oil (like the above)

Quantum Syntra SAE 10w-40 from GSF.

Not sure but they may have changed brand by now, when I got the last lot they said something about changing over, but I wanted the Quantum so didnt pay too much notice.

15w 40 is the correct vascosity for all vw in 1983 (ecluding turbo dieselengines) apparently got the sheet in front off me and dont quite beleive it

Now using Mobil 15- 40  semi synth. much better than the 0-40 I tried in error. Cheap in Halfords too.

10w40 rockoil high performance oil which gets changed ever 2-5 months dependent on miles.

mobil 1 10-40 super semi synth stuff, ?18 in halfords at the the mo too!!! im really impressed with it, even after 2 track day it still looks ok!

ideal, think ill put some of the motocraft 10/40 in it, need to make sure all my levels are mint, i'd be kicking myself if i ran outta oil on the jourey to Ultimate Dubz  

i personally use 10/40 valvoline maxlife its a good all round oil and best of all i get it for free  :mrgreen:

i don't tell people i dont pay for my oil normally as then i get questions.

yeah but i work in a garage so its a simple explanation the boss turns a blind eye every once in a while
