what can you transfer from a gti cabriolet to a tintop gti?

Hi all,
I hope this is in the right forum, and sorry if anything i say sounds dumb but im new!!

I have just bought a tintop 1983 gti shell, literally just the shell! I was having a general wonderment as to what would make a good donor car, obviously another tintop gti would be a good swop!  But i have seen a couple of gti cabriolet's and being a total newbie, can i take the majority of parts over?  i suspect various bits are different, but is the engine, running gear, suspension etc any good??

Any help would be appreciated!!

A bit lost but love my mk1 already!!

Suspension etc yeah, most of front end depending what model, as clipper has different bumpers and wings are slightly different.
Apart from back end mainly ie fuel tank, lights and obv boot. Exhaust has different hangers too but follows same route.

Yeah it depends what year the GTI cabby was, if its a later one then many important parts won't fit.

Yep like Pauls say's depends on year of cabby as I have a 1983 and most parts are same as tintop, rear bench different and obvious stuff to do with the roof and just to let you know that later cabby front seats have the adjuster handle on the oposite side so don't fully work in a tintop or mine.

basically everything from the shell downwards, most of the interior trim & dash including the carpets but not the rear seats and rear door cars. cab has a knee bar so you'll need to source the undertrays.

running gear will all fit, though springs probably too beefy. but if on coilovers obv they're adjustable so all good.

the exhaust and tank wont fit if cabby is post 84 but the fuel system will all work so keep that including the lifter pump, plus if you get a post-84 gti that means you can use a carby tintop tank, you dont specifically need a hunt out a gti one. manifold and downpipe will fit though so keep those if its the 6 bolt type

watch out if getting a pre-84 cabby with the electrics, you really want a 1983 with CE1 blade fusebox rather than the earlier ceramic one which is a bit pants (same goes for tintop!)
