what can i do to be modified, but moderate???

I want a mk1 golf for my first car. but i want some mods that will leave all these cheeky gits on the line crying in their saxo's and pugs. obviously insurance is a problem. anything that wont be to costly to cover but still a power increase???    :dontknow:  :dontknow:  :dontknow:  :dontknow:  :dontknow: :P

The 1100/1300 golfs are painfully slow and there is nothing you can do that will not affect your insurance

Let the saxo's and pugs go… I have a 4 speed 1.3 as my first car and its not painfully slow, but its not worth racing people, you will however have the satisfaction of knowing that your car is way cooler than anything they own,

Why not try something that no other 17 year old lad has ever done and that is treat your car as a classic investment and make it as perfect and standard as possible and spend as little as you can in the process…

The reason all the youngsters pimp their cars is because they can't afford the real thing in the first place.. One thing is for sure, if you put every penny that you were gonna spend on mods into a bank account, you would be able to afford the real thing a hell of a lot quicker..

So let everyone else waste their money making their car go fast and look ridiculous… You can be different by being the one who didn't make that mistake..

put a club grill badge on it and just enjoy, let the saxo and pug brigade speed round in their piles of crap that will be in the scrap yard before it gets anywhere near the age of your car, plus yours is only going up in price from the moment you brought it, so just look after it and she will treat you well in return :)

My son has a 1.1 Series 1 as his first car. He's 21 and been driving it for two years, all completely standard.

He watches the saxos and pugs and can see how ridiculous they are. He loves his car and reckons he'll never change it!

i got to agree with all the above, i would rather drive a nice sounding mk1 than any sewing maching saxo any day, no matter what the engine size, remember you can only drive to the limits as the old bill will enjoy taking your licence away, best advice, as already said, enjoy her

After all the advise on the standard keeping... I think thats what im gonna do. Besides when it comes to selling it will be worth alot more than if its modded to the end of the earth.

I agree with those above - my GX is standard as the day she came - all I've done mod-wise is lower 40mm and replace the steels with some p-slottage :)

An engine rebuild doesn't count as a mod, right ;o)
