what about the rivage...........

as my cc thread was hijacked … lol

here is something i just came across for the "rivage"

Blue with beige leather, electric hood, heated seats, electric windows.
Regarded as a 1993 model year cabriolet it is one of the last of the original MK1 shape available. To commemorate the end of this shape cabriolet, VW introduced two special editions in the UK. Firstly the Sportline available in red or black with Recaro cloth seats and black BBS wheels ( 500 of each colour were registered )
The other special edition was the Rivage. This too was olny available in two colours. Classic Green & Classic Blue.
This in blue you could have Blue cloth trim ( 500 registered ) or rarer still you could specify Cream Leather ( 250 registered in blue, 150 registered in Green )
The Rivage came with the most options to the MK1 including heated seats, electric windows, roof and aerial, leather steering wheel, handbrake and gear knob, Sony stereo and polished forged alloy wheels.
The Rivage was a UK market only model. Similar spec cars were available in mainland europe but called the Classic Line.
It is not known exactly how many are left on the roads now but fifteen years on they are certainly a rarer sight.

For me the pick of the bunch are the Sportline and Rivage.

Both of them in mint condition will fetch quite a bit more than other cabbys of the same condition.

BUT…..

Only to people who are into VWs and know about them.

Not sure if those figures are completely accurate for the sportlines…  :dontknow:

Cheers Hugh.

Rivage sales figures were 470 cloth trim and 252 with leather.. 441 sportlines seems to be a figure I remember.. Of which 29 were black.. I'm sure someone with a better memory than me can correct me if I am wrong..

Were there really only 29 black sportlines? I only ask as over the years in the classifieds I must have seen most if not all of them for sale at some point……………. Red ones appear more plentiful of course, but I just didn't think the black ones were '29-rare'! :? I'd have one of each if I could justify it!!

Compulsive buyer of knackered VWs!!!

29 is a number which has come up several times when customer services have been asked for statistics.. However, I know what you mean about a lot of black ones popping up here and there for sale.. It does seem feasible to me that there were fewer black ones as I think the red ones are more striking and you get this now and again that a particular colour is the one everyone wants.. For example, the clio 16v were most popular in the renault sports blue..
