VW Main Dealer v Ebay

I am pretty new still to the VW scene for Mk1's,  However I wanted to help other new ppl to the forum, if possible.

I have (like most) trawled through the ebay mk1 section for bits and pieces, and I personally have found some items that have allowed me to get our car on the road.  Seats, Speaker grills etc.  But over the last year I have also found that a lot of small items sold on ebay are actually still available from VW and are in fact cheaper through the main dealer!

Roof cables, Door mirror knobs & bellows, all still available from VW.

Take this pic for example, all purchased today.

2X seat guides (to allow the seat to locate properly)     ?4.56
VW sign
?3.69
Radiator card                                                            ?
2.23
Dipstick guide                                                           ?1
.73

I'm not trying to put anyones nose out on this,  but if you are like me and want some little parts to finish off your car.  Don't always think that ebay is the only place

Yep, its a known fact that a lot of people put items onto eBay, describing them as "rare" and "unobtainable from the dealers" etc when in fact its not true, and often they are cheaper from the VW Dealer too.

Any chance of us getting a MK1 OC card and a 10% discount to go along with that?

I have this with ScottishVAG so I dont see why we couldnt?  :dontknow:

After all, we are the most reputable VW owners club on the net.

Me and my brother have got a few things for the vans from main dealers, including a body panel that came from Italy and was half the price a breaker quoted for a pretty rotten one.

It's good to get things from the main stealer bacause the more things we all buy from them, the less likely they are to go out of production and, ultimately, the longer we can keep our mk1s on the road.

Yradave says relax.

I've asked for a discount from GSF before for being in a club. They've always given me a further 10% discount so it's wel worth asking! They don't advertise the fact they have a group discount

Like everthing on ebay, its "buyer beware".  If you are prepared to hand over ?21 +P&P for a part I paid ?2.23, thats fair enough I suppose. 8O
