VW Golf MK I by Wood & Pickett
does any of you own a VW Golf MK I, with wood panel dash, and SMITHS gauges(6 or 7)
Have any of you seen, or heard of one ? it could also have complete leather interior, with Recaro,s
Wood & Pickett Coachbuilders, did a limited series of these around 1979/81 app,
and I am trying to find out, if any survived :dontknow:

I have never heard or seen any!
Hi Dom123,
Neither have I, but I have a picture of one, it was taken in W&P,s workshop 1979, and showed a MK I GTI, getting a very nice wood dash, with lots of chrome rimmed SMITHS gauges fitted 8)
It also looks like the door cards, are made with White Leather 8) cant see the rest of the cabin, as there is a guy sitting on the front seat, holding the dash. The tekst dont mention "how many?" so maybe it was a "one off" :dontknow:

This rings a bell. Was it a tin-top or floppy ?
Hi DubPartz,
Luckely enough, are the top of the door, bearly visible on the photo, so yes its a "tin top"
as you can see the doorframe, passing the quarter, continuing above the side window.
Hope this helps.

This wasnt the series 1 on here with all the white leather, a turbo engine and a body kit?
Hi Funk-star,
Could well be, it IS a MK I, as the car is built in 1979, and the door card IS White in the picture.
Wood & Pickett had started working together with JanSpeed at this time, so you could order your car with a complete Coachbuilt cabin - filled with luxury & Leather,
plus they would get it fitted, with a JanSpeed Turbo conversion 8)

The plot thickins  sounds interesting, would be great if it survived 8)
I only have the old mag, with a B&W photo of the dash, taken through the drivers door.

woaw that was a nice MK I and it has some of these late 70 early 80ies wheel arches, with the square shape 8) dont see many of those, got the advert in a old mag.
This is not the car I am searching for thou, as the W&P had a wood dash, with lots of SMITHS chrome gauges, plus the door cards were made with White Leather.
infact I think it might not even be a British Golf? I just looked at the picture again, and its a LHD :redfaced: so maybe it went to Europa?? I didnt think of this untill now, as we only have LHD cars here in Denmark, so the picture looks pretty standard to me.
