UNLEADED OR 4-STAR??

Hi All,

I have just had a horrid thought!
I have recently purchased a German '76 Mk1 Golf 1.1 'L' and am not sure as to if it would run on UNLEADED or the now obsolete 4-STAR?!  The Vin number starts… 176.

The car was on a trailer when I received it last week and have not put any fuel in it as yet.

Could anyone please be kind enough to let me know!!

unleaded is okay.

Would it really be just that simple?? And not have to alter any ignition timing or lead supplement when filling up??

Weren't the 1.1's originally capable of running on 2 star ?
Pretty sure the valve seats are hard enough to cope without lead.

Any one remember 5 star fuel ?
Or I am just showing my age now !!

So by the sound of things standard Unleaded fuel can be used with no problems and need no timing changes etc??

Remember it? i used to buy it, used to think it would make things faster. now i know better.
