I have a Nankang Edition Mk1 in the garage, my previous car was a Bridgestone Edition
But on a serious note, I don't think a uniroyal edition existed?
I have various VW history books and it never has a mention..

Uniroyal Edition… this is new to me fella! I suspect someone has been pulling your chain. I have never read about it in any of the VW books ive read.
I beleive VW have only had links with Pirelli in the past, something they have rekindled for the latest MK5 golf Pirelli edition, with the silly seats.
Maybe it was something an individual VW dealership did? if thats the case i doubt it would have any additional value over a "normal" car. The pirelli or campagin editions arnt that worth that much more if any than a good standard GTi.

in the style of a saturday night 70`s TV show host…"Oh no they didnt"
is that a picture of the car? looks more like a normal gti with a clipper kit fitted and a valver engine chucked in for good measure
Its certainly not a limited edition, more of a frankensteins parts bin of late cabriolet and early 16v golf parts
Looks nice, but its certainly not a factory "original" model mk1, someone with a modicom of knowledge has got confused with the "campaign" which had pirelli alloys or the "pirelli edition" which is a German only market (lhd) car with colour coded bumpers, arches and wing mirrors (like the one above) and confused it with another brand tyre maker it would seem
Most VW`s of that era wore Kleber, or Pirelli tyres from the factory, and that is the reason you cant find any info on a Uniroyal version as it never existed

this is going to sound reeeally dumb but only just got into golfs and heard the expression 'valver' alot, what is a valver engine - they all have valves! is it reffering to a 16v GTi?

yes mate - valver refers to 16v engines. not really sure why!

I recently bought a resto project which has white Uniroyal wheels embossed with 'Uniroyal'… the bloke i bought it off said it was a limited edition Uniroyal GTi though like everyone else here is saying such a model didn't exist… and if it did there seems to be no info anywhere about them

Hope you didn't pay extra for the "rare-factor" of this car. On the other hand, hope you have a good solid basis for a project, and I hope the PO was just confused himself and not just out to rip you off.
