I think even when it was complete it was ugly and pointless, now the owner has come out of his delusion and taken it apart it only looks worse.

GavB95, three post in a row is officially talking to yourself, so to save it being four I've posted for you.
I was thinking exactly the same thing!
I go on volkszone now and again and the guy who owns this is doing a bay window camper in the same vein. I wonder if the TVR engine has gone into that?
I must admit it's a kind of butchered/fillered approach to modifying.

I know mate, no worries
So is anyone going to buy this ex TVR engined/maybe ford scorpio engined, extra wide MK1?
I wonder what happened to the bonnet/front panel as the car's been made 7" wider so it can't be on another car…
…front end shunt? or used as sheet steel for the next project?!

Still, if you've set your heart on a TVR Golf (with the TVR bits removed, and not much Golf left either) then I guess it's one of the, er, best around
:dontknow:  :dontknow:

I never saw the car in the flesh but the pics don't look too promising. It could have been so good to see a V8 engined Mk1, properly done and fully road legal, to be a kinda "top dog" Mk1 that others can aspire to. But its not quite hit the mark. If I'd have done it, I'd have kept the bodywork looking more original, including keeping the standard width.
In any case, its all been done before, 10 years ago, except on a Beetle - does anyone remember Outrage III (fastest ever aircooled Beetle), which then went on to be developed into Eightrage, an alcohol powered dragster with around 2500bhp? Can't really do better than that, unless you up the stakes with a jet engine or a nitromethane motor.

it isn't a mk1.
if he wanted a TVR, he should have got a TVR.
it'd look 10 times better than that, and be road legal.
and actually be worth something.
