Towing a Mk1

but what the law on towing with a tow rope??

the car has tax and mot but just doesn't run.

plus where a good place to tow from on the mk1 don't fancy ripping the front panel off

Can't recommend them enough - towing on a rope is daft when you can get a bar so cheap. Also means the towed vehicle shouldn't have to brake and won't run into the back of your car like it could on a rope.  :y:

Oh and tow off the standard tow eye. If you can't I'd get/hire an A-frame (provided you have a tow bar).

Yeah my mate towed me home the other day on a bar and he insisted on towing me off his tow hook as a pose to the eye. 5 min down the road and he steps to the left while braking.
Bent his bar up and done this to my doner car.

The bonnet was already muffed



His car was fine but i had to drive 70 something miles in that one

You can't, at least not to transport a vehicle. They can be used for recovery, to a place of safety.

Its not me you need to convince! Don't rely on internet forums for correct answers on it! Do your own research, use Google, motoring organisations, whatever, after all its your a$$ on the line if you get pulled and get a fine, or crash or lose control, etc.

You can legally tow upto 750 kg unbraked. So that means A frames can be used. However I understand you can't use A-frames on motorways. The best way to move cars is on one of these
