They never did an oak green Mk1 (except for 2 specials), if they did then its uber-rare and maybe best kept as original. If its a Mk2 or later, then stick it in if you like.

It's in need of restoration which I'm planning to do once I've finished the wife's '67 Bug - At the mo, she's using it as her daily driver.
The guy I bought it from only had it for about 6 months, he bought it from the original lady owner. I've spoken to her, she bought it from a VW dealer in Germany back in '84 and used it daily up untill a few years ago - It's got 240 odd thousand miles on the original engine and is still going strong.

From what I've read GTI's were available in a greater choice of colours in the rest of Europe, is yours a personal import Harry?

As I've said, the car was bought from a VW dealer in Germany - back in the day. I'm going to call the original owner again as she said that she's still got a load of history on the car. I've parked it next to an Oak green 16V Mk2 and the color is exactly the same…………
As for the blue top tint, I think I'll leave it. I had one on my old black Mk1 and it looked cool but I don't think it'll look 100% against the green.
