To poly bush or not to poly bush. That is the question!
Ok so I just came accross a set of the red 'Prothene' poly bushes that were sitting around in my parts store. I recall buying them on ebay a few years back as they were going cheap and then just forgot about them.
They're brand new and sealed and I have all 4 engine mounts, steering rack mounts, front bumpstops, rear strut top bushes, front wishbone and rear axle bushes.
Now there's absolutley nothing wrong with the standard components that are currently on my 93' cabby so the question is; is it worth fitting any or all of these poly ones?
Please bear in mind that i'd only change (if its worth it) the front and rear engine mounts as i've just put the engine in so i'm not taking it back out to fit the side mounts.
Just looking for peoples thoughts/experiences on this issue really.
Many Thanks,
Craig.

Never tried these particular bush,s but are they not rather solid/ stiff items more suited to a track car ? in which case will they not introduce noise / viabration and make the car rather tiresome to drive .

Yeah they are quite hard tbh. I've never fitted poly bushes to my own cars before but just with them sat there was wondering if it'd be worth it.
Any more thoughts on subject anyone?

It made my handling better, and made a nice sound to start off with but with driving my car daily its a pain. Wish i kept them standard now.

As welsh said if your using it daily i wouldnt reccomend it. They are alot harder than standard ones which gives less comfort/more noise and vibration throuh the car to.
Same for the engine mounts alot i changed the front and rear on mine, again more of the same with a touch more vibration

i did shocks anti roll bars rear beam left the rest, oh sorry did the front engine mount too, 2 side engine mounts i left standard and rear one i used one of a diesel, i did it this way so i could stiffen up the handling but keep vibration from the engine down

if you fit them on the engine mounts you will hate them. I fitted 1 Bug pack engine mount (front) and it made the car vibrate about 2x as much as it did before.
I can imagine its the same for the suspension, I wouldn't bother mate.

dare I say I think it depends on age? No really it depends on what you are after - in life theres always comprimises, in this case its comfort versus handling.
Ive got the whole car polybushed, and running on coilovers, yeah it can be a little harsh over the potholes, but the benefits it gives far outweighs the downsides in my opinion

Which ones are good and which ones are bad?

Unfortunately i dont have experience of all poly bush,s but for the road you need something with some flex in it, two i have tried are powerflex and a bit cheaper superflex. they may even be available in different hardness,s if my memory is correct.
