Tin top and cabby parts the same/interchangeable?

Hi,

Can someone please confirm if all the front end parts (running gear) such as arms, hubs, suspension and steering rack are the same for mk1 gti's as it would be on a mk1 cabby (clipper)?
Also the rear axle and exhaust?

Hi mate 
I think exhaust is different was on mine it's a 87 cabby, also I had to buy lowering springs cabby specific as heavier at the back,when I bought car it was on tin top springs and sat lower at the back.

front running gear yes, rear beam yes. exhaust only if cab is pre-84. springs bit beefier on a cabrio as it weighs more but same fitment

The GTi will have an front ARB, the Clipper won't.

Steering knuckles/ball joints are smaller on pre-78 cars also.
