you're supposed to be able use the numbers to work out the exact day your car was built
1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet
The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

When I cut out my floorpan I found the VW Audi symbol stamped in some random place under the sealent. Its funny because that will never have been seen since the day it was built
I must be fair sad too because I was fair chuffed when I found that!

The photo is of the Production Plate and tells you that the car was assembled in the 2nd week(02) of the year & on the second day (2) of the week. So the car was built on a Tuesday in January. The year code is the 10th digit of the VIN No. With that and an old calendar I can work out the exact date.
I'll take off my anorak now!
Cheers
