Temperature gauge not working ?

I have a g60 engine in my mk1 and for some reason the temperature gauge isnt working
im not getting any movement on the gauge whatsoever

i have wires from the gauge to position B7 (which goes into the fusebox) – to D29 (wire coming out the fusebox) – into the sensor – and then to earth(out the sensor)

i know the wiring is ok, good earths and the gauge is working - when i bridge the wires that plug into the sensor the gauge shoots right up
i also have 2 brand new sensors and neither work

can anyone solve my problem ????

cheers

If you have bridged the wires and thhe gauge shoots up then it is the sensor at fault, simple as that mate really!

yeh thats exactly what i thought , but 2 brand new faulty sensors would be strange

maybe the engine block/coolant flange has a poor earth? to test, run a wire from the battery -ve and tocuch it to the spanner flats on the sensor. if gauge works the earth path is poor
