Would be be nice if the current lot would reintroduce the scheme perhaps at 30 years like some euro countries.
Its still amazing that the scheme only ran for a few years before it was locked at 1973 13 years ago and loads of people still think its a rolling 25 years. :dontknow:

I just fork it out, albeit begrudgingly, safe in the knowledge I'm keeping a little bit of VW history on the road that I prefer much more than modern stuff.
In my case at least, I can cancel out the cost by :
- Saving on service parts compared to modern car costs (I can buy a filter here and a brake pad there with loose change from down the back of the sofa)
- Not paying labour to fit and fix stuff as I can do it myself without 'special' tools
- Having cheap classic insurance, even with it being a daily commute car
- And last but not least, by getting 60mpg so the bar stewards get far less of my hard-earned money at the pumps
30 years old tax free would be fair, or even if they halved what you pay after the car's 30 would be something…but they won't. Now that new cars are paying as little as £0 a year on tax they need the top wack tax from people like us. :dontknow:
