Steel Sliding sunroof adjustment

Hi there, my mk1 gti has a factory fitted sliding sunroof which is in need of adjustment.  The car has been restored but unfortunately the sunroof wasnt correctly set-up.  When i opened it the new paint was scratched in a few places from front to back, gutted.  Ive done a search on here but cant find much of a guide.  Im away with work at the moment so cant check the haynes manual so was looking for some sort of guide if there is one on how to set it up properly.  The other bigger worry is that the sunroof tray has started to rust quite badly and looks like it might have to be replaced.  Anyone done this before?.  Thanks.

I had the same when I had my car painted.had to play about with the washers to get it to sit right.if its always on the same spot,use masking tape to work out where its catching.
