Spot lamps..

Our Mk1 has the 4 light grill and we replaced the headlights but have now decided to replace the spot lamps too as one is cracked badly.

Are these likely to look miles different than the original style lamps:

If they are, can anyone suggest a supplier for the original style spot lamps?

Cheers,

Tom

The angel spots just have a halo like circle that is round the edge of the spot , I think they originated on Bmw's. They will look different but its all about what you like.

You can get new spots but you have to be careful that they will fit your grill, I just bought a second hand one from ebay and cleaned it up to put on at a later date.

Check ebay as they often have new ones but just double check that they will fit your grill, I just messaged the suppliers and they told me they didnt fit my car.

I assumed they would be halo styled like my dads old 5 series but wasn't sure…

I do just want something that looks standard so will have to trawl eBay during the evenings I suppose!

Thanks for your help… I will no doubt be posting loads of questions as I want to get parts ready for after winter to be put on.

hi mate i changed my spots to some second hand decent hella's as one of mine was cracked. Be carefull, when i was looking for them i bought some that didnt fit also. The pre clipper grill ones have bracekts which are not as long as the later grill style ones so make sure you buy the right ones :-). Also i think i have seen some people take sport and headlights apart, put lenses in dishwasher so they come up like new and then re fitting and sealing with silicant :-)

Its not easy cleaning used ones, I have half done mine with water and a tent peg bent over with some cloth taped on the end so it was like a giant banana shaped cotton bud and went in through the bulb hole and it has worked quite well but when I came to change it over I broke the spotlight clips, thought I was stuck but then found new ones from Germany, so now I just need to change it over.

You can get new crystal clear spots on ebay, not at the moment, but they didnt fit my late grill so be careful.
