Some advice if you would be so kind..

hi all another newbie with a typical newbie question.

not sure if this is even the right section but as its more of a general question than anything else im sure the mods will let me off!!

im after a mk1 gti (isnt evri1!) but im not really sure what to be lookin out for.

Is it better to buy 1 thats been restored/ is in original condition or 1 thats been pissed about with and restore it?

are there any give away signs that a mk1's a bad-un?

does anyone have any idea roughly what i should expect to pay?

Should give you a few pointers.

The buyers guide was really helpful when I bought my mk1. I didn't know anything about them before, but I was able to look in the correct places for potential faults and ask the right questions.  I came away with a half-decent mk1 one.  :y:
