so who owns this one on ebay?!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mk1-Golf-19k-genuine-miles_W0QQitemZ250221674383QQihZ015QQcategoryZ9873QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

i have already sent a friendly email saying it is a 1.5 and not a 1.4 and that there is no such thing as a wolfsbErg edition mk1 golf but they still have not bothered to change the ad.
Anyone care to comment on the price?

It is clean, but i dont think its worth that.

Just my opinion incase someone else owns this one! lol

Ahhh yes, we were discussing it earlier in another post weren't we!   One or two thought there's something not quite right with it. Besides, it's only done an average of about 730 miles a year…it'll probably be a lot worse off for it. Even the tyres and exhaust are 26 years old. Are the wooden steering wheel and gearknob after market add-ons then? It is lovely inside and out, but if you've got ?3200 burning a hole in your pocket, you get a smart GTI.  :dontknow:  Whatever floats your boat I suppose…if you wanted a broad range of mk1's for your modest collection, money being no object?

it is clean, i wont take that away from it, but if i wanted a broad range of mk1's i would buy the 1.5 GL and not this 1.4!

Hi All

Hi everyone,

Just to introduce myself, I'm the guy with the car on ebay. Thanks to VW nutter for pointing out its a 1.5…. I hadn't seen the log book in ages and recalled the 1.4 part of 1457cc, oops.

The car is genuine and starts up sweet, although does need a new back box. The car belonged to a VW dealership owner who was a bit of a car nut and kept it in an outbuilding with a bunch of other collectibles, he ran out of room and put it in his show room to sell on…. which is where I encountered it with only 1,700 miles on the clock. I drove it for a couple of years then bought a catering trailer and jeep which I still use today… the Golf has been garaged for about 3 years and started up regularly.

Am currently trying to get extra pictures of the mileometer on the listing but the revisions have locked up on me and am waiting for an explanation from ebay. I only come onto this site occasionally so if anyone wants more info or more pictures you can mail me at synthasandwich@hotmail.com.

Price wise, I think it reflects this one of car as I've not encountered another like it. Hope this sets a benchmark, we need to start appreciating these modern classics.

further points

Hi, just picked out the other chats and noted question mark over the wheels.

While I drove it for a couple of years I decided not to perish the original steels which I didn't like the look of and rode on the alloys from a Mk2.

VW -nutter, I'm disappointed about your comment ' Tosser ' as I was perfectly civilized when i emailed you back privately on the matter; it was a simple mistake. I'll let it drop as I don't hold grudges.

Engine mounts, fuel tank, filler pipe, underside is all fine and the car is started regularly.

I think thats a superb car, and worth every penny of that,

It seems a few others seem to think they can find cars like these growing on a tree, obviously its planted right next to the golf Rallye tree and the Audi sport Quattro tree and the G60 limited bush, if they can come up with cleaner or better ones? then prehaps they should buy them all?

It appears some people have a LOT to say but nothing worth hearing comes out, its the 2nd attempted assasination of someones mk1 in a week mate so dont sweat the rudeness, its quite possibly Haemoglobin week

got to agree with you there. what is it with some mk1 owners, you get some newbie or someone whos just spent 2years doin a resto on his/her pride and joy and want to post there pictures up for everyone to see and then these people come on and rip em to bits.  youve got to respect peoples own personel choice but slagging off a genuine  mk1 in this kind of condition sadly seems to be the norm on this site lately. just glad this guy came on here and answerd his critics………all gone quiet now me thinks.

FAO people whinging about mk1's getting all this stick recently.

There has been as many positive posts about this car as there has been negative ones.

The negative ones have been quite constructive, like Diesel_Dubber said early on, you can get a smart GTI for that price? and to be honest all the rest seem to be pretty positive  :dontknow:

btw it does look photoshopped > it probably isnt but the light in the photo does make it look edited.

People speak their mind its a fact, there's no point gettin all bothered about it.

Arron this runs a little deeper than that i fear, someones thrown all their teddies out the pram over the Wooders thread and bannings etc, FACT people with a little knowledge/experience are dangerous! they cannot debate they just rant!

I think a lot of unecessary tosh and opinion were banded on that thread and now its carried on on here

the bloke is offering a car for sale, NOT a gti not a lambo not a porsche a 1.5 mk1 golf

I dont know the car, i dont know the chap either, but i cannot see why people are so quick to "smell a rat" when the majority of them either dont own a mk1, or have hardly any mechanical or cosmetic experience when it comes to cars of any kind let alone a mk1 golf

Photoshopped? prehaps one of the " all knowing mk1 gods" can ask the sun to shine in a different direction for peoples for sale photos in future :banghead:

This is all getting a bit tedious now
