Snapped IGN key emergency....SORTED.

Deep joy and rapture.

Whilst changing my dashboard lights, ive managed to sit on my ign key and snap it.

Naturally my spare has gone walkabout in a recent house move.

Any tips or suggestions gratefully received, i dont suppose theres any way of identifying my key from my chassis number is there..

surprisingly calm, at least its at home on the driveway….happy easter.. :-D

'83 Driver, all original locks etc….as far as I know, one key for everything….

can you not take the snapped key to the key cutters and get them to make one up using the snapped key?? dunno if they can do it just a sugestion

I snapped my boot key, providing you have both parts just take it to a key cutting place in the morning and they will cut you a new one, simples.

what kind of car is it? you didnt say?anyway there will be a key number on drivers door lock inside back of lock or if you lucky there may be one on the boot lock.there is if its a mk1 golf.i have an old curtiss 15 key clipper set and books,cut it in seconds.try find a shop that still use these as they a dam lot cheaper than laser cuts. ps. if using the two halfs clamped in vice to cut a replacement,make sure it not got a twist in it.hope this helps

Car is an '83 Driver, as I said in my inital post… :-D

now sorted, took the bits down to a local key cutters and they made me another on the spot £6 ! )
