sills

hey i was wondering i just got a mk1 back and was wondering my drivers sills is goosed whats better just get a new sill or just weld a sheet of metal to fix it

It depends what "goosed" means, in other words where its rusted and needs cutting out/replacement. There's basically 3 options:

1. Make your own repair sections starting from flat sheet steel.
2. Use a new sill but cut repair sections from it to patch the existing one on the car
3. Fit a compete new sill


The basic rule is cut/grind away to clean, solid metal to weld to. So the best solution, depends on the situation.

it is rusted and holes at the rear i just checked and there £25 for a new sill so just going to buy one
