side slackness on gear lever

My gear stick lever has sideways slackness of about 3" at the top. Does anyone know how to correct this, is it a worn rubber ball?

it's so you can use 1st, 2nd, 5th and reverse, i thought  :roll:

get a gear linkage repair kit, and get the full kit that has new link bars and ball for gear stick, cost about 18 to 25 from ebay, this is well worth doing and you wont believe how much improvement you'll get and a factory fresh positive change  :dance:

 

Thought this might help mate as i'm getting one for my 4 speed.

They do 5 speed repair kits too if yours is a 5 speed.
