Two questions I would want to know and that's why it's for sale as a half completed car and also to what standard the work was done as unless its a very good price you don't want to have to re do all that's been done. Also engine does look a little tired. But as I sad if its well priced and you know what to look for when buying it would be nice to save from bent broken as so many seem to be.

Can't beat a German car

it seems he has done it well, its a 42 yr old guy whos got it, and just doesnt have the time! he says engine is fine except 5 th injector doesnt work for cold starting....never drove a 1.6 gti, they any good? and what do you think the vehicle is worth? with it being cali import? is it worth less? it doea have factory 5 speed and oilcooler which is a nice bonus.... just really not sure money wise on it... thanks for the help :-) chris

The 1.6 is a great car to drive,if its a usa import,i take it that its had a conversion to rhd,id check that its been done properly, check all the electrics are working as sometimes the loom is to short to swap sides ect,
i once went to see a lancia delta turbo that had been converted, everything creeked and moved when i turned the steering wheel!!badly done was an under statement

As albie said cali import would normally have been a left hand drive, so check what work has been done, also just because it was imported from Cali check where else in the USA it was kept if you can, alot of the states there have weather  just as bad or even worse than ours. I would say gather as much info as you can on the car and then make a decision from there. As for price i have no idea but i expect others here can help there.
