Should i be ashamed

ive had my mk1 a while now an apart from a few upgrades nothing has been done! money problems haha! but its a mess the wheels are curbed to high heaven, the paint job was home done and fading fast and i can see the old colour in alot of areas (done by previous owner), valances an arches need replacing amongst other things, the interior is a shambles, the engine and engine bay are on its last legs!!!!

but after slating it all i can say is i love it with a passion, i just wish i had the money!?

soooooooooooooo my question……. should i be a shamed of going to dub meets/festivals because of the state shes in or should i just be proud to be an owner drive her like i do locally (i.e with my head held high)??

be proud mate, because of you shes still on the road and not scrapped

I'm in the same boat pretty much. Daily 5 door is a right state but I still try to give it a wash as often as I can and work on the gti project aswell.

this is the problem its my daily drive an project at the moment, just had my vr6 wrote off by a nice hit and run!!!

Be proud , she's yours , you drive it and do what you can to keep her going.

yea chortle it was, i bought the vr6 to start work on the mk1!! 6 weeks later no vr6, 4 broken ribs an partially collapsed lung, 3 weeks on im bk to driving mk1, im just kinda glad i didnt start stripping her down!

Just be proud you've got a mk1! Even the shabbiest mk1s still turn heads. And at least you're not driving a Corsa!

Don't be ashamed! Be proud! I'm proud of you for keeping it alive I love to see a mk1 on the road, no matter what the condition. At least it was the vr and not the mk1 that got written off. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
