Well heart broken, but have defo decided to get rid of x reg mk1.
I am removing it from bodyshop sometime this week, i was planning on selling it once paintjob done, put the 1.5 block in citi, as i will not get money back from all the work and can not afford to keep it
Anyway goods news for all you part searchers i will be putting up all new parts for sale on forum once i have stripped it, suspenion, fusebox, front panel, doors, interior, the whole monty, genunie vag filler neck, have all receipts totalling ?800 car has done approx 20 miles with new parts.
Its a big weight of my shoulders as i want to concentrate on the citi and getting it mint.

your citi is mint pete, is the xreg a 5 door?

x reg is a 5 dr so plenty of goodies for sale, grill, headlights, wheels, but  do transplant 1st and sort the rest out within this week hopefully.
Engine from citi with manual choke keihin carb for sale after also, 78,000miles and paperwork to back it, in pefect working order, but also removing the 5 speed box from it to go onto the 1.5 block, so it will have a 4speed box with original citi block

To remind all of what she looks like here it is, the parts i stated below are ready to go.
All glass chrome strips windows, door and sill chrome strips with brand spank new set of clips for them,  Genunie vag chrome single headlight grill in excellent condition no broken clips, only right side headlight surround the chrome is damanged,vag wings, doors are mint apart from passenger lower corner, Door cards and seats, with or without speakers pods, brand new fitted reciepts to back up jbl 6x4 speakers in both front and back pods and parcel shelfs, White roof lining in mint condition not a mark, glovebox with keylock and key, dash with or without dash vent kit price varies if dash vent kit and glove box are kept with dash, brand spank arch spats not fitted, a brand new bullet type fuse box Paid ?80 1 month ago with garantee, this will be removed once i have removed engine this week, mirrors, door handles, mk2 wiper motor so faster wipes loads, basically that come off a mk1, then all parts are ready to go apart from that have not been removed as yet,i am not seling them for next to nothing as they are 1 month old parts and want as much money back as possible, then depending on what stays or goes rest will have to go on fleabay.
Also if you collect, front and rear screens with chrome surrounds, i have a brand spank chrome strip for the front screen also.
Lasty the citi golf 1.3 engine comes with 4 speed box and manual choke keihin carb in perfect working order 78,000 miles, ?80

If someone offers me a good price before tomorrow, then the car stays has one piece, but in reality i will not get back what i have paid, especially has the car has gone nowhere, plus i am saving money from getting paintjob done, cant afford to have 3 cars, running cost and storing etc, its a shame to strip but i can benefit out of it.
Plus i am not concentrating on the citi which is very important for me to keep on top of, as not only would i have 2 cars on the road, repairing other peoples car's and not getting time to do my own

On another note bert, i was thinking about teh conversion, is there anything i should think about when i swap engine, one thing i thought of was the dizzy, the citi has electronic points, when 1.5 block is in, can i simply put dizzy from citi block onto 1.5 when 1.5 is in the citi, i think it shouldn't be a problem, plus is there anything problems that i need to think about

pete,if i were you i would keep the complete gear linkage,i know for a fact that the bit inside the car is different on the 4 speed to the 5 speed,i measured the 2 and they are different,so i had to swap the lot to go 5 speed  :wink: the citi dizzy will slide in but the advance curve may be different,but probably not that noticable,so its worth a try  8)
hpoe all goes ok for you bert,advice though,PUT A CLUTCH IN whilst its on the floor  8O  easier mate,and one last thing keep the 5 speed gearknob  :?

Hi bert,
          the citi is already 5 speed bud, what i am doing is, taking just the 1.3 block out of the citi and fitting the 1.5 block, so it stays a 5 speed bud.
gearknob in citi was a full round vw issue golfball without sticker on top, no one wanted so i gave my good friend it for his y plate 1.5
