Got a serious hankering for a series one Gti, whats the chances of finding a good un? is there many left? i have never owned one and would like one for ma collection 8)

Dont think there is many left now, any I have seen have a higher price tag too (normally on ebay  :wink: )! Would like one my self!  8)

Lots of differences mate for an original series one.  Check on this site for the details.  Some people have taken a series 2 and whacked a different rear panel (small light version) on the back for either asthetics or to try and get more for it so worth doing your research.

gti is available from 1978-1980 , small rear lights, tartan seats , bullet style dash , all which can be put into later cars , i wouldnt mind a resto either 8)

Mines a series 2, but only just (built in 1980 but not registered untill 1981) so consequently it has a mish mash of s1 and s2 parts.  I'd love to convert mine to propper s1 spec

I think this one is reasonable. Not sure if its reasonably priced but its been for sale for a bit now…..

It is a LOT more than that. Complete bodyshell, tailgate, engine, cooling, nearly all interior parts, suspension, brakes, wheels, gearbox….I can spot fakes a mile off  :lol:

what the difference on the shell? sill lip is different aint ?? :dontknow:  anychance you could give me some pointers :D

Front panel is different. Bulkhead is different. Floor pans and sills are different. Rear panel is different. Tailgate is different. Then depending on year the wings, bonnet, doors, inner side panels, roof, inner wings are also different.

Kin ell 8O  cheers for that i would easily have bought a fake :redfaced:  never knew about all that.
