Series 2 Golf Drivers

Question… did they have a golf ball gear knob and if so, did it have 4+E on the gear config ?  :dontknow:

Yeah, that looks like a stock GTI one. It's the Golf Driver Mk1 (series 2) version or perhaps the GX versions I'm curious about.

I dont know if it was standard but my Mk1 S2 Driver had a golf ball gear knob, it had no gear layout/config on it though, was just like an oversized black golf ball, remember it being slightly bigger than the GTI one too, maybe another driver owner can confirm ?

My s2 driver has the black golf ball with the 4 gear layout on the top of it

Right, so I can eliminate the driver then. Wasn't sure if the later driver 1.3 was mated to a 5-speed.

The golf ball shift knob that your car had sounds like a Kamei item. Had one in my 84 GTI which is now in my 79.
