Series 2.....but with retro/chrome bumpers??

Hey people, another thread with me asking questions lol. Sorry - so many questions so many experts!

Basically I'm wondering if anyone's put chrome bumpers (or retro black ones) on a series 2 with the larger lights? I'm going for a retro look in the long run wiht my 83 GTi….but of course its got large rear lights and I'm not sure the bumpers will look right

So - does anyone have any pics of cars that sound like this, anyone modded their own like this without replacing the rear panel?

Take it easy.

how do you even view the items on your site mate? I do like the idea of small bumpers ...im going for a retro/ish...chrome/ish look in the long run but gotta deal with the inevitable respray first too!...Either way it will turn heads around here when finished! Sleepy countryside towns :)

   Clearly a secret …

Click the piccie of the MK1 to enter the site then follow the Products link at the top of the page. Works with IE, but some others it won't work with.

Ah ok. That'll be why I can't see it. Finally got a Mac (for graphics degree)…and my windows laptops outta action. Shame, I do love my mk1 product web sites!!

Later Mk1s (i.e. S2s) don't suit the chrome bumpers, look far better with the plastic!

Thanks dubboy, thats basically what I was getting at lol. I had already done a few Photoshop mockups and they didn't really look right. Oh well at least I will be saving ?300 to put towards making the rest of the car look amazing :)

Does anyone sell new plastics then. The chrome insert ones that came with mine were the worst fading you've ever seen lol.

Got any other thoughts designwise for the Series 2 dubboy? anyone with a garage that big deserves listening to;)

dunt work with firefox on osx! wana speak to your web designer and tell them to validate your site (that means reading the code and finding any errors that stop it working on all platforms).

I am biased towards standard cars unless you want to race it on the track. Standard Mk1s are retro enough for me unless you have some nice tasteful accessories!

You should be able to get V.A.G ones from your dealer, not sure of cost. Or non-genuine ones (hard to tell difference to look at, but plastic not the same so shatters on impact instead of bending/bouncing back!) Plain black ones only ?31 ish from places like GSF.

Ok, heres an idea. The front of my series 2 is identical to a retro….single light grill….chrome effect trim…helios blue suits the look well. So here's another bumper question lol.

Has anyone ever tried putting a chrome front bumper on a Series 2, and then the standard black plastic one at the rear? How did it look if so???
It sounds like a terrible idea, but it might just work. haha
