Sad times - Series 1 Mk1 Golf Gti worth?

Hi,

I am considering selling my Series 1 Mk1 Golf Gti but not sure what its worth or whether i should
I am going to live abroad for at least 3 years and have no place to keep it and need money for my expedition
It has sat covered in my garage for over 2 years SORN but still starts first time from regular checks.
Could be Tax & MOT'd if required

Any advice appreciated

So here goes:

1979 Mk1 Golf Gti (V reg)
Scuttel panel smoothed (All smoothing on car welded not filler)
Boot lid dewipered
A3 door handles with central locking
Body line trim removed and smoothed
Brand new KW Variant 2 coilovers (200 miles)
Disk Brakes all round (Braided Hoses)
Passat 22m master cylinder
Eibach roll bars all over
Porsche 912 seats
Carbon fibre steering wheel
Not sure on alloy name but deep dish with brand new toyo prox 195/45/15 (200 miles)
2.0 8v 9e engine
Rolled and widened arches
Single wiper
Chrome surround grill
Chrome door mirrors
Crystal clear light - Cross hair smoked fronts, small rear lights
Magnex Stainless steel exhaust from manifold (inc back box)
Filler cap removed and place in boot
Wheel well removed flush
Resprayed in Mars Red with a gold metallic

Issues:
8volt power supply to engine electrics poor earth - can be sorted
Some white smoke from exhaust - can be sorted
£2 coin size rust on drivers side rear arch & rust on passenger side door rust on top corner
Apart from these two areas the whole car is rust free and oiled sealed as had full bare metal respray 6 years ago excellent shell

Alot of work has gone into the car and i know it is not to everyones taste but how much do you you think i should part for it?

Look forward to hearing from you

Jonathan

Hard to say, as its not standard, personally I would stick it on ebay with a reserve of the minimum you
would accept, it will then find its own level, some people will pay a premium for a car thats had the mods
done already, you also reach a bigger audience, or you could stick it up for sale on here, and price
it to similar aged cars / condition.

nice car but some of the mods are a bit 90's

Price i guess £2-3K, there are a lot of nice mk1s about for under 5K at the moment.

keep it in the garage a little longer and the 90's style will come back in fashion, its happening with the 80's mods..

Personally I don't like the mods and was gonna change back the wiper and door handles (as done by previous owner) but wanted a series 1 mk1 gti

Nifty- the rear lights are series 1 mk1golf lights smaller than the norm and the rear number plate lights are off an Audi so you can open the boot lid from underneath as boot lock removed.
