Rivage Spec - any experts out there?

Hi all

I have been looking around recently and have notice a couple of Rivages that vary from the standard.  but I have seen more than one occurance of the differences suggesting very late models may have had changes by vw.

I  have seen Rivages with a grey/blue interior
and ones with different wheels

check out this german ebay classicline  (Wheels and Grey/blue trim)
http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.de%2FGolf-1-Cabrio-Classicline-Top-Zustand-unverbastelt-%2F190431128228%3Fpt%3DAutomobile

and this one (in margate) same wheels as one above (not le castelletes)

and this one (in northwich) Grey/blue trim - not obvious on pics but a friend has been to look at it

any rivage experts/owners any ideas

Cheers
Tony

The wheels on the Classicline in the advert you've posted are Estorils. According to Cabby-info Classiclines were fitted with le castellets as standard.

- edit - another good link is the other Cabbyinfo site - http://www.mk1vw.info/modules.php?name=Info&op=viewcat&id=7

The Classicline is a separate model to the Rivage so don;t compare them like for like.

Estorils were fitted to Mk2 Golfs and some Corrados of the same era as the Rivage. I guess the wheels on the Rivage have been changed over the years, perhaps a less particular owner has added Estorils thinking they were correct/through personal  preference/or because they were cheaper.  :dontknow:

I'm not sure on the grey cloth interior but would suggest it is not original.

Like Gav said you cant really compare classiclines with Rivages there dfferent beasts but according to my rivage booklet grey cloth is a nothing they came up in late clippers only. Stuff is so easy to change its hard to keep track.

PNE - mine is the same as yours - I was under the impression that a Blue cloth Rivage
only came with the one cloth option, but I dont have the original service brochures to confirm
that.

I'd missed that post cheers..

Also good to hear everyones opinions…

I still reckon Vw ran out of mauritius blue trim and stuck in a greyer version in some of the very late rivages…  Reckon I have seen 4 or 5 over the years with that grey/blue trim

There was a fella who came up to me at tatton talking about his car.

Based on a Rivage but LHD, I think he said that it had been bought in Germany by a Squaddie and shipped over here.

He was going to post up about it. I'd forgotten until just now. Has he done so????  :dontknow:

The interiors on later cars were slightly different in the cloth spec.. The door cards no longer had the striped, ribbed pattern of the seat cloth and in addition to the seats no longer being blue, the carpet also was changed to black.. Hope this helps..  :)

pretty certain the rivage was a uk only model and the classiclines were the European versions so will differ in spec, for a start classiclines had power steering (it was available on lhd models)

Look's like the one in margate has power steering,i guess it must be one of the tsr kits :dontknow:

and then the 1993 brochure….

you'll need a magnifying glass (or my specs) but the detail is in there.
