reverse lights

hi people could anyone out there tell me if i need reverse lights for the mot.
 i had to replace my steering rack took all the gear linkage off and now i have no reverse lights. but i have all 5 gears, i can have lights but no 1st & 2nd gear. played with it all day now i am getting teasy.made the classic mistake of not marking the linkage up before stripping it down.

all i need to do know is figure out a way to get them all working. any idea how to set the linkage up, or is it a case of keep trying different positions?

For linkage setup, look at the guide on the left

For reverse light  - check the obvious - switch (on top of gearbox), wiring, fuse, bulbs

i cant see any guide to the left?

as for the lights i can get them by moving the gear selector on the spline, but i can not get 1st & 2nd gear without haveing to push down on the gear stick and push towards reverse to get 1st and 2nd.

Look at the titles, and for the one called Technical. It has some links underneath it, one of which is called Gearchange Linkage
