Or use boxes or long axle stands to jack the car high enough, in the middle. Or use a 4 post or 2 post ramp.

The usual way I do it is jack the car so the tyres are about 4" clear of the floor; remove the gearbox from underneath (its light enough to drag out easily) then remove the engine from the top. My engine crane is so wide its front legs can't fit between the front wheels of the car, but yours might fit.
If the servo's not in the car (if you're doing 16V MC and servo upgrade anyway, it would need to be removed/replaced) then the engine and box fit, both coming up through the top.

You'd need to shorten the chain or strap. If this is short enough, its possible to remove the engine without removing the bonnet - so it should be do-able in a double garage.
