What are they for

I think people probably stick them on roof racks. You see a lot of old beetles with battered suitcases and oil drums strapped to them. I assume it's the same sort of thing? :dontknow:

Having said that, they might be a bit small to put on a roof rack, so i could be wrong there.

There just age related accesories for your car. As above, theres loads of stuff like this in the air-cooled scene.

To be fair, they'd probably look good on the right car. You get a lot of old campers with faded decals and stuff.

why the needs to carry pointless stuff around?

Just a look, I guess. I wouldn't personally do it to my own car, but each to his own   The air cooled shows are full of cars with loads of stuff piled on the roofs. At the end of the day debadged grills and eyebrow spoilers don't serve much of a function but people still do it. Just about individualising your car i guess :dontknow:

As stated by a few they are for roof racks and that,they can be made to any size.any one know some air cooled sites I can post a link on?

Not sure about sites, but if you take them to the air cooled shows you will probably sell a shed load. I went to the big bang last year and this sort of stuff was everywhere.
