R I P

Happened on Friday night. Still coming to terms with it. A young Clio driver decided there was no need to look for any other cars on the road and pulled out the junction into my oncoming path.

The insurance told me today that it's been declared a cat B total loss (parts only, never to be on the road again).

Had 7 years of happy driving all brought to an end by some idiot who never thought to look before pulling out.

Managed to drive 3500 miles around Europe without any problems but it seems the 3.5 mile trip from work was too much to ask for.

Apologies for the scene of a graphic nature.

What kind of insurance do you have? You might need some help getting it valued properly, etc. Best of luck with the claim. I assume they've decided the Clio driver is 100% at fault?

As has been said main thing is you are o.k but what a gutter.

Hope you get on o.k with insurance company and if they are not offering enough you may want to consider a no fault insurance comapny who will send thier own inspector and then fight with the clio drivers insurance to get as much as they can for you for your car.

If you are looking about for a new one in the mean time, please check the for sale section as my white cabby is in there now

Best of luck with it

had the same thing happen to me but there can be a postive out come ,they will offer you peanuts for it then its your job to find examples the same year ,spec ,condition, mileage for good money, you will need around 5 of them to prove your value which then you submit to the (sure a few members on here wont mind putting there white cabs up for sale for good money on here to use as examples )insurance they then offer a much better price,as your car is a cat b they will just give you the car for free which you then keep any parts you want for next one and break the rest i made more money in the end than paid for car and got a better one than i had, which i promise makes you feel much better .good luck! oh and then theres your claim as well for whip lash.......

I never realised that that i need 5 examples. Thats good to know.
I will look out for similar examples. As its a 1983 white with a white roof im not sure how close an age range and description it needs to be. Car had done about 138k so fairly typical. its the white roof that seems to be harder to find.

Ouch.
I heard about this on our local VW forum - are you on Eastside VW?
Someone drove past your carnage and posted up on the forum what a shame it was.
In Dyce was it?

There's a 1.8T 20v Mk1 cabby in the For Sale section on here for a very decent price. I'd have it myself but i'm looking for a tintop.

Currently:

2003 Audi S3 (BAM) - Custom-Code Phase 1, Pipercross panel, Autobahn88 TIP, Forge 007p, Bilstein B8s & H&R springs, Brembo Max Grooved discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads and much more…FOR SALE!

I dont think the white roof will be the be all regarding a valuation it will more be on model, year and mileage.

You maybe able to get your insurance company to still give you an agree valuation certificate now based on pre accident damage pics? worth a try ! At the end of the day its not them that are going to be paying out

I know i shouldnt write in on here as you have to be carefull where insuracne companies look, but do you know any one who owns a garage the could give you a back dated receipt for all the "refurishement work" you had done to get it looking like it did, that must have been at least £1500+ on its own ! ;-)

Try the higer priced classic car adds for valuation rather than auto trader and ebay !

Hi, its seem clearly  that your insurance are cleaning their hands you can repair if you are loving your car , ask to the car repair for an invoice and ask with this invoice to your insurance, if was not your fault they should pay defenetly , obiusly you must faith against your insurance to cover your damage car  but you will win , I am sure .
take luck.
