question about my new golf
i just bought my first golf mark 1 cabriolet (see link below). it is a 1.8 from 1991 and was sold privately as a clipper. however there are no clipper badges on it. how do i know whether it is a clipper? i am new to golfs so i was wondering if u anyone could help? its not a gti. its got bumpers that look like those on a clipper. should it have clipper badges or stickers somewhere? if so then does anyone know how i can get hold of these?

they also did a clipper with small bumpers.
a 91 will more than likely be a standard convertible as i think they went to big bumpers on all of them at that point. there is nothing special about a clipper i'm afriad.

Here's a picture of a Clipper cabriolet, the decal is on the rear quarter panel between the filler cap and the rear light, would be in the same position on opposite side of the car too.
It might be worth checking on your V5 if it specifies 'clipper' and also asking other members with already badged Clippers if their V5 specifies 'clipper'.
Also see here for more info on Clipper models:

Also its become slang terminology that the big bumpers of 1987 onwards approx, (even if fitted to Clipper or GTI, or whatever) is the "Clipper kit".
