prices paid for mk1's

As the price guide is out dated thought i would start a new thread to collect prices paid for mk1's.
add your prices paid or sold for mk'1s to build up a picture of what they are really going for. keep this tread as clutter free as possible so keep it brief. i'll kick off the ball with;

mk1 cabriolet 1.8 gti 1985(coco) unmodified,  tatty but mot'd  bought 28/12/2008 for £700

mk1 golf c diesel 1983 5 door, non runner with few rust issues bought 01/06/2012 for £125

add yours to the thread!

Sorry to butt in but would this list help keep the thread clean. Might also be worth adding data if someone has offered to purchase the car from you or you seen one for sale..Really you would to set how far back to go with the purchase/sales whether its 1 year or the last 5.

Let me know if you want me to delete this post..

Hi there, sorry to be kind of off topic, but I cant help but see how cheap you have bought some cars! Where do you buy them from?! I was just wondering, if you find a cheap one up for grabs, Please pm me, it would be so helpful as Im new and wanting a project, but can't afford one thats 2 grand! Thanks

Well….

Just because we bought the cars cheap, doesn't mean they stay cheap.

I'll happily admit that my £750 banger is worth nudging £2,500 now, but it's taken £4,500 to get there.

In other words, I would rather have saved and spent £2,500 on a pretty good example, rather than bought the open cheque book I have now.

Yeah I suppose…. I've found one for £900 with the usual rust, but it's mechanicly sound, which I think will be cheaper than getting one for 500 and spending 4000+ on it. I can do most bodywork and interior work myself, just not too keen on engines! Im sure I'll learn though, as I am only 16…

I've had mine so long that it would skew the data (£5k I think in 1985). It'd be really interesting to find out what someone pays for the £11k one at Panorama Bay but it's usually hard to get that sort of info and I've noticed that in the classic trade, cars sometimes move from dealer to dealer
It's interesting to follow auction activity and there's a Mk1 coming up this week at H&H, a red 1600 that's had loads of work done and is said to be close to concours save for a bit of work on the interior. I'll watch for the result but it has an estimate of £4-5K.
