parts catalog

is there any where i can get a parts catalog simler to the ones that gsf and other companys do for the beetles and busses,where thay show pics of most of the parts.it makes it easyer to familiarise your self to a new car you havent worked on before.is there such a thing for the mk1?

There is a online version of the VAG parts catalogue at http://www.vagcat.com/ . You have to register, but it is free and lists and displays all mk1 parts and VW part number.
