ouch

some idiot acrossthe road reversed into the back of the my baby, he thought he only smashed a light and said he would pay for it, but i noticed a large dent on the tailgate where the the golf gti badge sits, its about 6 inches wide. thing is its right on te crease if you see what i mean. question is how much would it cost to beat out to make it look good as new, or is a new tailgate? just wanted to know so i can tell the bloke how much he owes me!

if you're getting a respray done anyway there's no point getting a brand new gate, you could pick up a second hand one for next to nothin'…kinda bad form too to make the guy pay for a new one if you dont need it  :dontknow:

he shouldnt have hit it then! mine is about the 4th car he has done and he is stinking rich! he has about 5 layers of gaffa tape on his bumper where he has hit them! and there are no decent scrappies around here. if i could get a used one i would but i can see none even on fleabay.

heh, well i didn't know that… if he's loaded and always hits things,  i'd say you could get a bodyshop to fix it and just send him the bill

if he drove into your front door, would you be happy for him to bring round a second hand one in a similar colour, or would you expect a new one?

Too right you get a brand new one, he drove into your car. He has insurance let his premiums go up till he learns to drive

make him pay for a new one, as wooders said, you wouldnt take second hand from him for soemthing else..
I've got one of crazyquiffs new boot lids on my tintop and its good…
try your luck, just done push for too much as you wouldnt want his insurance company writing yours off

ill just tell him he owes me fr the lights (70 quid) and the lid (about 200) and it would be more if i wasnt going to spray it all and ill fit it myself. if insurance was dealin with it, i reckon it would cost alot more!
