Original radio`s

I have a radio that I "think" was original to my car in 1983, as
each dealer fitted diffierent ones its hard to be sure but i think im
close,  I fitted this to see if it worked (it did but the tape was slow)
radio ok…., my question is……..

Has anyone had a radio "refurbished" to take MP3 or just
serviced etc…  not an urgent thing in the scheme of things
but on the list of "to do" jobs.

PS: radio purchsed from ebay about 5 years ago……. not original.
(please excuse the dust)

Thanks in advance

Dib.

i have that exact same stereo in my garage, i was gonna fit it to my clipper and just put a cd changer in the car wired into the circuit somehow.

Nice one!, I have a CD player in the front (not multichanger)
at the mo, and was hoping to stick the "original" back in but
a bit updated, with an MP3 input in the rear?, so sounds good
but looks original, if that makes sense.

Cheers

been looking into this for a while. i have the stock radio for my car i got off ebay recently. i intend to rip out the inner and stick the innerds from another radio i have in. then use the tape drive connector to wire in a jack plug for an mp3 player. but i haven't got round to it yet.

I was just about to recommend this:

http://www.koenigs-kla…d-etc/a-32100-28-0-0-0-0/

These work on Blaupunkt radios, but then I noticed the last paragraph mentioned cassettes:

"For Radios with Cassette need an adapter cable are soldered directly to the device, since the existing socket on the unit is inappropriate. Failure to observe the radio device can be damaged!"

So I guess you will hae to solder direct into the circuits. Does it have a DIN plug connector on the back? Blaupunkt (at least early ones have a non-standard pin configuration, but yours might be the same as newer units)

you can get a tape, with a wire and a jack plug on end coming out of it, all you have to do it plug the tape into your mp3 player, and insert the tape into the deck, and hay presto it plays - and theres no tape to actually turn so it wont play slow.

Prob still got mine knocking about somewhere, but think you must still be able to get them for ?5 at most from cheap nasty places like netto, motor mania etc

Check it first though…..Some vintage Blaupunkt models I have tried, don't take the tape adaptor…it gets spat out!  I tried different tape adaptors aswell….CHECK….Although this is a great option and I get better sound quality in my modern car compared to the use of an FM transmitter type.
