Ebay MK1 Golf GTI

Hi Guys, I'm thinking of buying this car now the auction has finished and no one has bid for it, as resto project that has already been started by previous owner, does anyone have any opinions looking at pics and description on this car or buying a part restored car? I would be buying it without seeing it  8O

Any advice or opinions would be welcomed  :D

I think the owner is going to want very close to 700 still

Thanks

i will give my 2 cents worth, for 700 quid i personally think you could find a better project, have seen a couple the last couple  of days that were a couple of hundred cheaper, but is your choice, plus its better to have a look around

well i havnt restored one or done much paint work myself, but i would say it appears to be described as a solid car, i think in that state £700.00 is a little high! ? ?

but go have a look at it, take someone with you who has experiamce of body work and repairs see what there view is

best of luck bud

I think £700 is a bit steep and the fact that he hasn't removed the qtr light posts or even the rear bumper side clips shows a lack of attention in preparation. If he hasn't sold it yet then maybe he'll take £500 ??

Forget a resto and check this out….. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190433862592&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

(not mine but local to me)

it seems cheap !

Thanks for your views guys,

If the work is done to a high quality and it just needs one sill fitting and no more rust treatment before prepping for paint i thought 700 wasn't a too bad price? hmmm

Problem I have is it exactly what im looking for but i'm 400 miles away  8O

its a shame all the mk1s are up country lol. as everyone else says, its a bit steep for what it is but if its all there and you're willing to do alot of the work yourself you could end up with a cheap project…

thanks for adding yourself to my little list by the way :)

i dont even have a golf at the moment :P but im still gonna get everyone together lol.

Looks like a good example!  And in my home town!  I'd pick that up in a shot if I were still up that way.

The white one does look very nice  8)

The car i linked part restored at the top of the thread has been relisted for the 4th time, the owner wouldn't give me the VIN number which set alarm bells off,  :dontknow:  said i was asking for too much info and the number plate on its own was enough info for hpi check 8O  8O

Sounds dodge eh  :?  lucky escape for me.

The one in primer is way over priced as everyone has said, if you take into consideration the fact that it's got to be sprayed which is going to cost about £1000 to get a proper job done you'd be much better off buying the white one which looks nice and clean

2 1983 Campains (concours & track)
1985 Blue GTi Ragtop
2001 Bora Estate TDi SE (very very rare)
2000 Golf TDI commuter
2005 T5 Transporter with 394000 miles on it!
