opinions please

right, the story so far, as my sig says, im hoping to have the car sprayed by 2009, but there are a few things that i might do when its in.. and heres one of them:

i was thinking about getting short bumpers, not the chrome ones, just black, like of the early GTIs (i think)

simple, and to help people, here's some pics of my car (the best ive got, sorry)

thanks ^_^

I like the short black metal bumpers. You're right, they're on early GTi, like Rajans early red one (in his avatar)

Not sure how they'd look with big rear lights though? Probably ok!

why does it need sprayed? It looks well shiny from here!

Shorter ones look good, but you'll need to remove the clips that hold the sides of the bumpers, and weld up the holes behind, if you want to make it look good IMO.

As campwitte says, why do you need to respray it? It looks almost mint…

when the Lord God  VW  created your car he said "LET IT HAVE BIG BUMPERS" and it was done.
best not mess with with them ( keep as standard as you can IMO.

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

1989 the bumps are standard part of the Karman kit just a private reg I see where you where going though the grill got change due to the prang in the bushes couldn't get hold of a twin headlamp in time for the sprayer to fit and i quite like the single head lamps anyway :D

Keep the big bumpers like A5OPY says.  Surely you don't need a full respray with only a few bits of rust. Just get them repaired and blown in - save yourself a lot of work. You've got a really nice original paintjob on there already. Hows the engine bay clean up coming along ?
