I started looking into this but ended up finding my local A1 motorstore could still do them. Try the link below. I don't think he advertises that he does them but I saw his stand at a show and he was doing them there.

Just read this in golf+ on the way home (on the bus :()

I quote;

Straight Plate
Specifically developed to meet BSAU145d, these fully UK legal, Euro-style, pressed-steel number plates (much like Germans plates but without the stadt marks or rozzer-altering legality issues!) comes with standardised font, so the police have no reason to pull you.

im guessing you mean the grey and black types?

but if you're car was registered after 1963 (?) then its illegal to have that style of plate on..

sorry to relieve myself all over yer bonfire but it is :mrgreen: anything other than the numberplate that the car was given is illegal

reading earlier posts your question may be different.. but my last point still stands :oops:

You can display black and silver plate if you car was registered before Jan 1973.

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

When I am talking about "old style number plates" I'm talking about plates before the format changed in 2001.

There is a difference in the width of the letters between the new style and old style plate.

In reference to the "nailed on" type, you can still get these no problem.

got myself a set of these and they turned up the other day, ive always promised myself a pair, they were 50 quid inclusive of vat and postage
these had reflective backgrounds so that they are still legal, they dont look as shiny as plastic plates so that they still look very retro but are COMPLETELY legal
